The safe, soft, snug, adorably functional, and FDA-Cleared Tortle Air now comes in an all-NEW design — meet Tortle Air - Turtle Trot.

The Tortle Air - Turtle Trot cozies right up to your baby’s head with advanced repositioning support to help prevent and correct Flat Head Syndrome as your baby grows. A front opening makes it easier to place correctly, and silicon dots on the inside help reduce slippage for a close, comfortable fit. Small temporary marks from the silicon dots are normal.

By gently guiding your baby’s head to different contact areas while lying on a firm surface, Tortle Air helps reshape the head and support healthier neck muscles.

Size Chart

For best results, size by head circumference (not age). Ages are approximate.

Size Style Head circumference Approx. age
XS Lucky Elephant (older Small sizing) 12–14 in (30–36 cm) 0–2 months
S Turtle Trot 14–16 in (36–41 cm) ~1–3 months
M Turtle Trot 16–18 in (41–46 cm) 2–4 months
L Turtle Trot 18–20 in (46–51 cm) 4–6 months

Note: The XS option is the older Lucky Elephant style. It was previously labeled Small on older Tortle sizing and fits a smaller head than the new Turtle Trot Small.

Safety Essentials

It is most helpful if your baby wears their Tortle Air to reposition whenever their head is placed against a firm surface like a car seat, stroller, bouncer, or crib to avoid flat head spots or head preference. The Tortle Air is not needed when you are holding or exercising your baby, OR overnight when you are sleeping. Baby can’t do therapy all the time!

Always keep your baby in direct line of sight while using the Tortle—it's fine to move around the room as long as you can see them. Avoid leaving them unattended or relying on camera monitors, which could freeze or malfunction at critical moments.

Approved for wearing while the caretaker is awake and has a clear line of sight.

Fitting Guide

  • Open the front of the Tortle Air and loosen the adjustable side straps.
  • Pull the beanie down as far as possible so the crown of the head sits fully in the top of the beanie and the sides cover most of your baby’s ears.
  • Place the support roll over the middle of the flat spot (placement differs for torticollis — see usage steps below).
  • Use the side cinch tabs to snug the fit without over-tightening.
  • In the first six months, babies’ heads can grow quickly — re-measure and adjust as needed.

Usage Instructions: Clear Steps for Success

Using the Tortle Air - Turtle Trot or Tortle Air - Lucky Elephant is straightforward and safe when followed as directed. It's intended for supervised awake time on firm surfaces like cribs or car seats. Always consult your pediatrician.

How to Correct Brachycephaly with Tortle Air
How to Correct Brachycephaly
  • Brachycephaly occurs when a baby spends too much time flat on their heads, causing the back of the head to uniformly flatten as well as a variety of other cranial asymmetries.
  • If the flat spot is at the back of the head, place the roll over that area and then allow your baby to turn their head first to one side, then the other.
  • Do this each time baby is placed on a flat surface, such as a crib, car seat, or stroller.
  • To remember which side to turn baby's head when the roll is on the back of the head, simply wear a bracelet or hair tie and switch it to the opposite wrist after repositioning.
How to Correct Plagiocephaly with Tortle Air
How to Correct Plagiocephaly
  • Plagiocephaly is when a baby has developed a flat spot on the area between the back of their head and their ear on one side.
  • Open the front of your Tortle Air and loosen the adjustable side straps.
  • Place the Tortle Air on your baby’s head so the support roll lies over the middle of the flat spot. Be sure to pull the beanie down, at its sides, to cover most of your baby’s ears.
  • Position baby to face the less-preferred side during use.
  • With plagiocephaly, you will notice the baby looks one way most of the time. With the Tortle Air secured and the roll placed correctly over the flat spot, your baby should be looking to the other, less-favored side when laying them down in a crib or carrier, such as a car seat or stroller.
How to Correct Torticollis with Tortle Air
How to Correct Torticollis
  • The Tortle Air is designed to provide passive stretching of baby’s shortened, or tightened, neck muscle(s).
  • Place the support roll on the side of the tight neck muscles, not on the flat spot, about 1 in (2.5 cm) behind the ear.
  • If your baby has Torticollis, it is recommended to involve your pediatric PT/OT, as the therapy is slightly more complicated and can involve eyesight imbalance.

International Shipping Policy

USA: At this time, we do not ship to the United States. Baby products are subject to different safety regulations and compliance standards in the U.S., which may result in customs delays, refused entry, or additional liability concerns.
